Carbon Management
ES Link Services provides greenhouse gas (carbon) accounting services for clients who:
- Are seeking to understand and manage greenhouse emissions resulting from the operating activities of their business or organisation
- Wish to estimate the greenhouse emissions from a specific project or development (embodied energy)
ES Link Services also develops tailored carbon offset solutions depending on our clients’ operational and budgetary constraints. Offsets can be arranged to meet Kyoto protocol specifications, to maximise biodiversity, assist in the conservation of a particular threatened species or to support the installation of renewable energy or energy efficiency solutions.
Natural Resource, Environmental and Biodiversity Management
ES Link Services provides professional services to natural resource management agencies, private sector interests and non government organisations in areas related to natural resource, environmental and biodiversity management.
ES Link Services has assisted a wide range of clients in funding procurement, environmental management plan development, environmental monitoring and evaluation. Our approach is to assist our client: engage with relevant stakeholders (including government), access best available knowledge, undertake appropriate data gathering studies, and to process and document information.
We specialise in developing innovative approaches and integrating scientific knowledge into managing our natural resources in a manner that delivers environmental and social benefits in the most cost efficient and sustainable manner.
Marine Services
Marine Taxonomy and Ecology
ES Link Services has the capability to provide services in marine micro- and macroalgal and invertebrate identification, and aspects of marine ecology and impacts on marine communities. We hold considerable experience in the monitoring and assessment of impacts as diverse as the effects of underwater sound, explosives and antifouling biocides
Biofouling, Biofouling Control and Invasive Marine Pest Management
ES Link Services holds substantial experience and scientific expertise on marine biofouling, biofouling control and introduced marine species and their management. This provides the capability to advise on biofouling issues and technologies to effectively prevent or manage biofouling, with a strong emphasis on environmental
impact and acceptability, including antifouling coatings for vessel hulls and other surfaces and marine growth protection systems for seawater piping and cooling systems. A well established understanding of the identity, biology, impacts and vectors of invasive marine pests and other introduced marine species, enables a capability to provide support on invasive marine pest management.
Vegetation Offsets & Management (Bushbroker)
Victoria’s Native Vegetation Management Framework established “net gain” as the planning objective for native vegetation management in the State. The framework requires a reversal, across the entire landscape, of the long-term decline in the extent and quality of native vegetation, leading to net gain.
In the context of native vegetation protection and clearance decisions, the framework established a three step process involving:
- Avoiding vegetation clearance through project selection and location;
- Minimising impacts through design and management;
- Mitigating any losses through appropriate offsets.
Where vegetation loss cannot be avoided due to socio-economic drivers, permit applicants need to either generate offsets on their own property or obtain ‘credits’ by securing offsets on other properties.
ES Link Services understands that Permit applicants and developers do not have the capability or interest in long term management of natural environments for conservation, so can provide a number of ‘hands off’ offset solutions.
These solutions include:
- The Direct provision of vegetation credits on land associated with ES Link Services clients;
- The direct purchasing and/or procurement of additional land by ES Link Services managed to generate credits tailored to client requirements;
- Provision of Habitat Management Services (including weed management & revegetation) to realise gains on applicants land to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
ES Link Services has a recognized track record in the identification and purchase of land for conservation purposes, as well as sourcing vegetation offset options for corporate interests with a particular focus on vegetation and offset requirements in the west of Melbourne. ES Link Services also provides carbon offset program management and has recently developed a carbon offset program for a number of large infrastructure developments.
Offsets purchased by ES Link Services on behalf of major clients will be used to support threatened species conservation programs, providing clients with the additional branding benefit of directly contributing to the conservation of key grassland species fauna such as the Eastern Barred Bandicoot.
